Credit and Debit Card Processing REGULATION

If you are in business, chances are you received payment from a client or customer.  If you receive payment, you've likely been asked if you take credit or debit cards and naturally you probably do take them since approximately 80% of transactions are through those 3.5" pieces of plastic today that now possess microchips in addition to the magnetic stripes containing customer information.

Most of MainBoard's function is to work in the aspect of security, policies and procedures, regulatory compliance - for you, our prospective client, if you are here looking for useful information. If you accept card payments, you have a book of rules and agreements you have signed or clicked and agreed to when you signed up for your account.  There are pages and pages of rules and compliance that you must abide or you are subject to fines, penalties, and remediation if you have a security breach.  If you do not have a policy and procedure written down, it is sound practice to have these things stored for retrieval.

Thanks for stopping by.  Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns regarding your credit and debit card processing policies, procedures and security practices.

What is Cybersecurity Awareness

Many news stories makes one sick, n’est pas?  What is the deal with the Cybersecurity word?  Where did it come from? Why is it a hot topic now?

How can it be worth billions and trillions?

Crazy isn’t it?

Cybersecurity is a stiff techie re-branding of the fix for unsafe use and non-maintained computer, network, technology and anything electronics.  Today, technology is at the heart of government, business, shopping, healthcare and many other functions of life and this minor problem permeates all aspects. There are criminals too that have evolved in the way they spy and steal and bring havoc, hence the other word: hackers, hacking, hack, and hacked.

Are you aware of the risks within your organization. Several people do not know the risks of having household chemicals collocated in the home is in of itself a hazard. The same scenario for cybersecurity awareness and securing your Intellectual property, sometimes it isn't a bad idea to have an outside expert have a look to help you become more aware.

What's in a website?

The mystery of having, building, or having a website built for your company is a mystery in numbers.  Today, many websites are on display with broken links, incomplete content, draft template content, without proper tagging and worse yet, broken links.

A website is this: it is your brand. Regardless of the amount of content you place on your site, if it is a "one pager" or "fifty-pager," stop, fifty pages is definitely a bit much so don't do that, the content must be accurate and complete in all respects.  If you build a site with a template site builder, you must, must, must go in to test mode and pretend you are a consumer.  Make sure all links work, all get more buttons function, all downloads work, all information collection forms work, etc. These details are the bare minimum expectation.  Keep in mind, wordiness is too much too so work on it and get to the point. Now, I'm headed back to my website now to shorten the talking down to the point.
